Tools for Self Reliance
The Coach House
houses a branch of TOOLS FOR SELF-RELIANCE,
an organisation which refurbishes tools and sends them out to partners in
Africa.
We have a small workshop which can accommodate two people at any one time.
At the moment, we have eight volunteers working on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday mornings. They are currently working on two kits: an auto-mechanic's
kit and a carpenter's kit. When these are ready they will be boxed up and sent
down to Netley Marsh, near Southampton, where TFSR
has its headquarters. Boxes are checked for completeness and quality, loaded
into containers and shipped from Southampton.
Tools are always required. At present we have a particularly
pressing need for carpenter's vices, g-clamps, metal planes, nailbars, sawsets,
saws, particularly ripsaws. We also need ¾ inch plywood for making the boxes.
If you would like to join the volunteers or have tools to
donate, please phone Sue Bond on
01360 620742.
